Top of Rhino peak

In early spring the KEHS Green Team members set off for a hike in the Berg. Once again, the hike proved to be a great weekend with 15 enthusiastic kids enjoying nature at its best. All but 3 got to the top of Rhino peak - a daunting walk from Pillar Cave at 1750m to the summit at 3075m. Well done to Shaneece Fernandez and Bocha Thipa (grade 8) for making it along with the boys from grade 9, 10 and 11. Lehan Niehaus also had shoe challenges and did most of the hike barefoot!

The weather was challenging on Friday and Sunday, but perfect on Saturday, allowing us time to sit on top of the peak and survey the world over a picnic lunch. A rare sight indeed was the appearance of the critically endangered Bearded and Cape Vultures.

Thank you to Mrs Chaplin for organising the event, Mr Manicom for his company and enthusiasm, Mr Young for driving, Mr Rawlins for instigating card games, and Mr McLeod for herding people up the pass. Congratulations to the awesome next generation of kids who care for this beautiful world God gave us.
