100% King Edward High

Once again King Edward High School has served its community with distinction and achieved a 100% Matric pass rate. This was accompanied by a most commendable 88,5% Bachelors admission rate, ranking the 2021 school results amongst the finest in the country.

Only 4% of schools in the Eastern Cape, and 7,5% nationally, managed to get 100% of their matriculants through. We are further delighted that all our matriculants have access to tertiary education and the vast majority will be attending University this year.

Much has been written about the challenges of Covid and the disruptions to education. We would like to commend our staff and learners on their sterling efforts in the face of adversity. Their dedication and resolve have been rewarded, and our learners are well placed to capitalise on the skills and values they have acquired in these difficult times. No less than 55 distinctions were achieved by the intrepid class of 2021. 88% of marks were above 50%, 65% were above 60% and an amazing 43% of grades were above 70%.

Seven learners achieved A aggregates: Rebecca de Burgh, Helen Dixon, Shaneece Fernandez, Kamvalethu Majavu, Sesona Mpingwana, Tshegofatso Msomi and Lehan Niehaus. Rebecca, Helen, Kamvalethu and Lehan deserve special mention as they each bagged 5 distinctions. The closely contended race to be recognised as Dux is not yet over, as we await the results of re-marks. We are confident that their grades will improve further.

We wish the 2021 matriculants godspeed, trusting God with their future as it is Him who gives increase. Buoyed by these excellent achievements, King Edward High School is already firing on all cylinders and anticipating another successful year.
