KEHS Enjoys excellent sport

The past few weeks have been filled with sports tournaments. We are grateful to all the teachers, coaches, drivers, and volunteering parents who assist King Edward High School. Sport would not be the same without their many sacrifices.

U12 KZN selection.

The U12 and U13 KZN Interschools Rugby Tournament was held at Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg and the SKZN teams traveled to Pietermaritzburg to participate in the trials. All coaches and the teams stayed in the boarding facilities at the School. It was a very well organised event, enjoyed by all. Congratulations to KEHS learners Daniel Steyn and Oreboloke Moorosi who have been selected to the KZN U12 team. This is a remarkable achievement. Well done boys, KEHS is proud of you!

Over the weekend, 13-14 May 2022, our U13 Hockey girls went to New Hanover to participate in the day/night hockey tournament. The girls played

6 games in total, making it through to the semi-final where they played against Winterton. They held their own, resulting in a 0-0 draw. However, as this was a tournament they had to play extra time. Unfortunately, they lost by 0-1 and were placed 4th in the tournament.

With all cylinder firing on the sports fields we had our first chess games against St Monica’s, Focused, Bergview, Khanya Naledi and Maluti JSS. Our young men did us proud as they won three games against Bergview (3-1), St Monica’s (4-0), and Focused (3-1). They drew against Khanya Naledi (2-2) and Maluti JSS (2-2).

The First Netball team played against South City on Saturday, 13 May 2022. They displayed wonderful netball skills and teamwork, which led to their 18-12 victory. The U16 girls had a close encounter and lost by one goal (5-6). We remain, as always, proud of our girls and congratulate them for their outstanding netball and team spirit.

Our First netball team participated in the EG Netball Challenge held at St Patricks College on 27 May.

Our girls played four matches and finished the day in second position. We won our games against Focus, Bergview and St Patricks but, unfortunately, lost against Kokstad College.

Congratulations to our First netball team finishing the season on a high note. All your hard work and hours on the netball court has shaped you into the outstanding team you are today. You make us proud.
