100 % King Edward

For the 5th consecutive year King Edward High School has produced a 100% matric pass rate. Congratulations to all the staff and learners concerned.

Of equal significance is the quality of the results achieved, with 85% of our learners gaining admission to Bachelors courses at Universities. Furthermore, 75 distinctions were obtained from the class of 42 learners. The excellent results are further reflected in the individual performances of our top learners. Our Dux, Amenta Sibi was amongst the very top learners in the province – 1st in cluster A - and attained an average of 94,43%.Her marks were as follows: English Home 84%, Afrikaans FAL 92%, Maths 96%, Life science 95%, Physical Science 98%, Accounting 98% and Life orientation 98%.

Sinalo Nyakambi was recognised as the top learner in Alfred Nzo West District and also achieved straight A’s. Anand Nair with his 6 distinctions was placed second in the district. All three learners were invited to the Provincial Prizegiving in East London where they received substantial bursaries, laptops and cash awards.

Mr Thomas was one of our celebrated educators preparing our matric learners with expert care and dedication. It was with great sadness that we heard of his passing on 09 January after suffering ill health for a number of years. A very fitting memorial service was conducted, where his many exceptional virtues were extolled. Mr Thomas was an intellectual giant with unrivalled devotion to his profession and learners. May his soul rest in peace
