KEHS wins Voortrekker Tournament
On Saturday our teams travelled to Pietermaritzburg to participate in the annual Pre-season Festival hosted at Voortrekker High School.
Our First Girl’s Hockey Team played in a round robin of 5 matches. KEHS girls played with flare and determination beating Ixopo 5 – 0, Voortrekker’s u/16 team 2 – 0, Newcastle 1 – 0, Sarel Cilliers 1 – 0 and Greytown 2 – 0. KEHS ended up top of the pool and proceeded to the Final. It was a nail-biting game against Ladysmith High, with both sides playing a skilful match. The game ended 0-0 at full time. A penalty shootout then ensued, where the scores were tied at 1-1. And after a sudden death penalty shootout, KEHS beat Ladysmith 1-0 to win the Festival. Well done girls on your stellar teamwork and dedication!
