Hockey - Spar KZN Southern Regional Tournament
On Saturday the 13 April, a young, tenacious and talented team of hockey players travelled to the South Coast to participate in the Spar KZN Southern Regional Tournament which was hosted by Creston College. Upon arrival the girls played a rather challenging match against Port Shepstone High School which ended 0-0. They then went on to play against St Monicas and once again drew 0-0. The third game against South City resulted in a victory of 1-0.
Thereafter the girls took on Ixopo and won that match 2-0. They thus proceeded to the semi-finals where they played Kokstad College - this game ended in a 1-1 draw. This resulted in an 8 second penalty shootout where the team unfortunately lost 3-2. The final game of the day for the girls was against St. Monica’s which was won 3-1 after an 8 second penalty shootout. The first team was thus placed 3rd in the tournament. Many thanks are extended to Spar KZN for organizing such an enjoyable, fun-filled tournament. Congratulations to Kokstad College who were the champions of the day.
