KZNCSSA Zonal Athletics Trials
The KZNCSSA U7–U19 Zonal Athletics Trials took place at Suid-Natal on 8 August, with 117 athletes representing KEHS. Our athletes performed exceptionally well, recording 63 first places, 61 second places and 56 third places. Twelve records were also broken by our athletes: Qiana Haddon-Davies in Girls U9 Turbo Javelin; Lere Ntlou in Boys U10 80m and 1200m; Niki Enslin in Girls U11 1200m; Cowan Canham in Boys U11 80m; Zack Myers in Boys U11 High Jump; Leah da Silva in Girls U12 Discus and Javelin; Ovayo Diko in Girls U13 100m and 200m; Alakhe Mkhathi in Boys U13 200m and Inathi Gqoli in Boys U14 1500m.
Several athletes received special recognition for their performances. Luke van Dyk finished second in the Junior Victor Ludorum (U6–U9), while Cade Marais claimed first place and Lere Ntlou third place in the U10–U13 category. Ovayo Diko was awarded the Top Female Individual Achievement, with 1st and 2nd positions for her 200m and 100m performances, respectively. An outstanding 111 KEHS athletes were selected for the South Durban team and will compete at the KZNCSSA Provincial Athletics Championships on 28–29 August.

HS Sport
KEHS chess enjoyed a highly successful afternoon against SMDS on 12 August. Team A secured a convincing 10–6 victory, while Team B produced an impressive 15–1 win, giving KEHS a dominant aggregate score of 25–7. Our Fast 5 netball team also enjoyed a convincing 30–11 victory over BVC on 13 August. At the Werda 7’s Rugby Festival on 15 August, we lost 12–21 to Werda, drew 15–15 with Curro Salt Rock and beat Scottburgh 19–17. Our 1st girls’ soccer team also competed at the KC Festival, losing 0–1 to Mount Currie before drawing 0–0 with SPC.
Boys’ Hockey
On 15 August, our U9 and U11 boys hosted Ixopo at KEHS. Our U9 first team narrowly lost 2–3, while the U9 second team fought back to secure a 3–3 draw. Our U11 teams faced tough opposition, with the first team losing 0–3 and the second team losing 0–2. Our U13 boys travelled to Ixopo and played to a hard-fought 0–0 draw.
