First Hockey Girls represent KEHS at SPAR tournament

Last weekend the King Edward High School First Girls Hockey Team once again represented the South Coast at the Spar Hockey Tournament in Durban. The hockey action took place at St Mary’s with 10 schools representing their respective regions.

In the first round King Edward played four matches against the other teams in their pool. KEHS made a good start with a 3-0 win against Grantleigh in their first match on Saturday. Thereafter they drew 0-0 with Durban Girls College, beat Amanzimtoti 3-1, and lost 2-0 against St Johns. This placed King Edward third in their pool. On Sunday a 1-1 draw with Wartburg ended in a penalty shootout. Which KEHS won, ensuring a match against Our Lady of Fatima in a battle for the overall 5th and 6th places. Our Lady of Fatima was the stronger team, beating KEHS 4-0. This placed King Edward 6th in the festival.

We would like to thank Les and her team at Spar for their hard work and congratulate them on a well-organised event. Thanks too, to Mrs du Randt and Dr Duminy for their excellent managing and coaching of the team.
