On Thursday, we held our Matric Tea, a special occasion to bid farewell to our Matric students and an opportunity to make their pledges ahead of the final exams. This gathering encouraged both students and parents to reflect on their journey so far and celebrate the upcoming transition into the next chapter of their lives.

Following this, we enjoyed a beautiful and prestigious High School Prize-giving ceremony, recognising the outstanding achievements of our learners. Among the highlights of the evening was the Trophy for Service to the Hostel, awarded to Tina Nyembezi and Qhayiya Sapo. The High School Public Speaker of the Year Trophy went to Onkabetse Kwili, while Junior Mncadi received the Trophy for Most Promising Athlete. Advocate Matheza received trophies for Athlete of the Year and Rugby Player of the Year, along with the award for Best Forward Rugby Player. Wesley Willard was named Best Backline Player, and Tristan Moeketsie earned the title of Most Improved Rugby Player. Trevor Mkhathi received the Sevens Rugby Player of the Year.

In netball, Mihle Mbangeni was recognised as Most Improved, Sinobomi Mshiywa as Best Defender, and Ayanda Nondabula, who took home both the Best Attacker and the Trophy for Netball Player of the Year. Ayanda was also awarded Best Sporting Achievement in the High School.

In hockey, Khanya Rabelemane and Cazz-Leigh Mckenzie were acknowledged as Best Striker and Best Defender, respectively, while Reitumetsi Pakkies claimed the Hockey Player of the Year Trophy.

In soccer, Reitumetsi Pakkies was recognised as Player of the Year for the girls’ team, with James Akhosi receiving the same honour for the boys. The Most Improved Soccer Girl was Katleho Stuta, and James Akhosi was recognised as the Most Improved Soccer Boy. Luthando Zincume was awarded Tennis Player of the Year.

The Headmaster’s Award for Service to the School went to Reitumetsi Pakkies and Trevor Mkhathi. The Trophy for Highest Academic Achiever in Matric was awarded to Tshikaro Telile, with Faith Ntaote receiving the Trophy for Exceptional Achievement. The Dux Trophy for 2023 was awarded to Bubomi Manciya. The Trophy for Sportsmanship went to Trevor Mkhathi, and the Senior Award for Good Fellowship was awarded to Reitumetsi Pakkies.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the prefects for 2025, with Liyema Mtshiza appointed as Head Boy and Samkelisiwe Mbewana as Head Girl, joined by Deputy Head Prefects Liyema Zozo and Faith Ntaote.

The prefects are Cazz-Leigh Mckenzie, Keyonte O’Reilly, Ledia Seliane, Areahe Kwili, Zamatolo Tuku, Yawa Dzide, Angel Damane, Abulele Sobantu, Ray Matsau, Reinhard Mulder, Unathi Koyana, Mihle Mbangeni, Snemihle Zongola, Butleng Motsapi, Kwakuhle Mkoti, Relebohile Lekhethoa, Alizwa Shibani, Molumeli Masepe, Luthando Zincume, Asenathi Mlaza, Emihle Gebuza, and Tyra Kotze.

Adding to our celebrations, three students—Tina Nyembezi, Abongile Tenene, and Faith Ntaote participated in the 21st Bruce Piper Monologue Competition at Cowan House on Saturday. We are thrilled to announce that Tina achieved first place for her outstanding performance. This was a fitting way to conclude her matric year and showcased her dedication to the Arts.
