Matric Tour 2025

Matric Tour 2025: A Journey of Growth, Adventure, and Lasting Memories

Our 2025 Matric Tour was more than just a getaway - it was a vibrant blend of adventure, learning, self-discovery and celebration that brought the matric class closer together and created memories that will last a lifetime.

The tour began in Graaff-Reinet, followed by a series of experiences that pushed students beyond their comfort zones and inspired personal growth. One of the most unforgettable moments was the adventure tour through the Cango Caves. Crawling through tight spaces and navigating the darkness, many students confronted and overcame their fears—joined courageously by Ms. Dube, who completed the challenge alongside them, earning the admiration of all.

Nature played a central role in the tour. From the curious (and not-so-friendly) ostriches at Safari Ostrich Farm to the fascinating marine life discovered among the rocks of Mossel Bay, the students had countless opportunities to connect with the world around them. They explored Redberry Farm, picking strawberries and laughing their way through the giant maze, and later unleashed their competitive side during an energetic round of tenpin bowling.

One of the highlights was the Matric Farewell held at the scenic Jakkalsvlei. Dressed to impress, the students enjoyed an elegant evening surrounded by vineyards and mountains. The Jakkalsvlei team went above and beyond to create a night to remember, and the students celebrated in style, marking a milestone in their school journey.

Adventure was never far away. At Acrobranch, the group soared among the treetops, conquering rope courses and zip lines with determination and enthusiasm. These physical challenges reinforced not only courage but also trust and support among classmates.

Alongside the fun, the tour also carried moments of deep reflection and learning. A visit to the National Sea Rescue Institute offered insight into the vital, often unseen work of coastal rescue teams, while the stop at the Steve Biko Centre in King William’s Town provided a powerful historical and social perspective. Learning about Biko’s legacy left many students inspired about their place in shaping a better future.

The Matric Tour was not just a break from the classroom—it was a transformative journey. It strengthened friendships, encouraged resilience, sparked curiosity and gave students a chance to celebrate how far they’ve come. As they return home, they carry with them stories, laughter, lessons and a renewed sense of who they are and who they want to become.

A Special Thank You - None of this would have been possible without the tireless effort and dedication of Mrs. Jacobs, who meticulously organised and arranged every detail of the tour. From accommodation and activities to ensuring each day ran smoothly, her commitment and care made the tour an unforgettable success. The entire matric class extends their heartfelt thanks for her hard work in creating such a meaningful and memorable experience. All the teachers and drivers are commended for their sterling involvement and dedication. We are so grateful for this amazing opportunity that was presented so professionally.
