HS Sports
On Tuesday, our teams travelled to SPC for a series of fixtures where all matches were played in excellent spirits. Our netball teams demonstrated skill with our U16 team securing a 32–5 victory, while our 1st team triumphed with a 40–7 win.
In rugby, our U14 team had a commanding 40–12 win. Our U16 team displayed their dominance with a 43–0 victory, and our 1st team concluded the day by winning 22–7, highlighting the depth of our rugby programme.
Our U16 hockey team faced a challenging match and lost 1-2 to SPC despite their best efforts, while our 1st team demonstrated resilience with a 1–0 victory.
We hosted the annual EG Girls’ Hockey Challenge on Thursday. The competition was intense, and our girls played with commendable effort. Congratulations to SPC for securing 1st place, KC for finishing 2nd, and KEHS for taking 3rd position.
Our high school sports teams travelled to Umtata High School on Saturday. In rugby, our U15 rugby team achieved a narrow 14–12 win, while the 1st team dominated with a 33–7 victory, displaying the physical prowess of our scrum.
In netball, our U16 team delivered a strong 24–5 performance, and our 1st team secured a 23–14 win, reflecting the consistency of our netball players.

On Wednesday, we hosted SPC and BVC for netball matches. Our U11 team dominated both matches, defeating SPC 22–0 and BVC 16–0. Our U13 team experienced a mixed outcome, narrowly edging out SPC 9–8 but falling to BVC 6–8.
In rugby, our U11 team hosted SPC at home and was victorious with a 24–14 win.
Our U13 hockey girls participated in the New Hanover U13 Girls’ Hockey Day/Night Festival. The team played commendably, reaching the semi-finals after 2 wins and 4 draws. They finished 4th out of 14 schools after a series of competitive matches.
Our U11 girls also participated in the New Hanover Girls’ Hockey Festival and performed admirably with 4 wins and 1 loss.

On 8 May, we travelled to SPC with our junior primary rugby and hockey teams. In the U9 rugby match, we achieved a creditable 35–20 victory. However, the day presented challenges on the hockey field, where our teams faced tough competition and we lost our matches.
Our U9 hockey girls impressed at the New Hanover Girls’ Hockey Festival, winning 5 of their matches and drawing 1, demonstrating resilience and improvement.
It has been a great week of sport for King Edward High School.
