The following day, 11 September, our U7 to U9 girls took part in a series of soccer matches against SPC and KJS. Our U7 team managed a hard-fought 1–0 victory over SPC1 despite losing to KJS and SPC2. Our U8 KEHS1 girls impressed by beating SPC 1–0 and drawing 0–0 with KJS. Our U8 KEHS2 team also showed skill, winning both their matches against SPC (2–0) and KJS (1–0). Our U9’s drew 1–1 against KJS after a challenging 0–2 loss to SPC.
Our U7 to U9 boys competed in hockey fixtures on the same afternoon. Although results were not in our favour, the boys played with energy and gained valuable experience against strong opposition. Our U7 and U8 teams battled hard but were unable to find the back of the net, while our U9’s showed promise with a 1–1 draw for KEHS1 against SPC2 but lost their other matches. These fixtures provided opportunities for growth and development.
On 12 September, our SP learners took part in the Spelling Bee competition. Congratulations go to Kungawo Mafunda and Yahya Khan who impressed the judges with their spelling skills and advanced to the next round.
The week concluded on 13 September with senior soccer fixtures against Southcity. Our boys’ U16 side put up a determined fight but were beaten 2–1, while our 1st team claimed a 2–0 victory. On the girls’ side, our U16’s played out a competitive goalless draw and our 1st team unfortunately lost their match.
It has been a week filled with effort and perseverance across many areas of school life and we are proud of the commitment shown by all learners.
