SA Champs off-road triathlon

Since being banned from doing MTB XCO racing and rugby after a couple of bad concussions, Angus has redirected his energy to off-road triathlons: this involves, on average, an 800m swim, then a 20km MTB ride followed by a 5km run. He has competed in two of the Aquelle Mudman 2018 series events, winning the u/18 category on both occasions, and was placed second overall in both events, pipped only by SA Triathlete Darren Purtell from the South Coast. Last weekend Angus competed in the SA Champs off-road triathlon, which was held in the Cape. He participated in the Xterra Lite category. He finished 4th in the 18-25 age group and was placed 6th overall out of 770 competitors - the first non-ranker. What an outstanding achievement. Congratulations.

Former learners, Reuven Rawlins and Liam McLeod, also completed the Xterra lite, finishing 17th and 14th in the 18-25 age group. Lots of promising talent indeed is being brewed in Matatiele!
