Hockey Spar Regional Finals Tournament

Over the past weekend our first girl’s hockey team represented their region in the Spar Regional Finals Tournament held at St Mary’s in Kloof. This was the eighth tournament of its kind, with KEHS enjoying the privilege of attending for the fourth year in succession. Our young team’s spirit was high, both on and off the field. They competed against the nine top teams in their respective regions. Our first game was against St Anne’s who scored four goals against us. This was followed by an equally tough match against St Mary’s. Then Amanzimtoti beat us by 1:0. After lunch, and with our nerves under control, we beat Greytown 4-0. On Sunday we faced the Lady’s of Fatima and lost that match too, putting us up against Amanzimtoti for seventh or eighth position. The girls gave their all and beat Toti 2-1. Thus securing a seventh place in the 2018 Spar finals.

We would like to thank Spar once again for a well organised tournament and St Mary’s for hosting us in their stunning facilities. Last but not least, we would like to thank Richard, our dedicated and faithful bus driver and our coaches, Mrs Deidre Duminy for her expertise, both on and off the field, our assistant coach Ms Tarryn McArthur and Mrs Lizel du Randt for all her organisation behind the scenes. Spar, good for you!
