KEHS athletes shine at KZN Youth & Junior Championships
KEHS sent thirteen athletes to the KZN Championships. They were: Kayla Harris, Anathi Madikizela, Helen Dixon, Justin Nel, Unam Sotsongaye, Sine Matam, Lemohang Lentsa, Seithati Mothapa, Sibulele Feni, Karabo Sekese, Kemiso Ramaipato, Benji Dickson and Kholekile Bam. There they competed in the extreme Durban heat, doing incredibly well and earning nine medals in all.
Although our track athletes tried their best, with some achieving personal best times, it was all about our field event athletes and their outstanding performances. This included:
Kayla Harris Girls U19:
- 1st in the Shot Put and she qualified for the SA Champs in April 2019.
- 1st in Discus
- 2nd in Javelin
Anathi Madikizela Girls U17:
- 1st in Discus and Hammer Throw
- 4th in Shot Put
Sine Matam Boys U17:
- 1st in Discus
- 2nd in Shot Put
Kholekile Bam Bous U17:
- 3rd in Javelin
Benji Dickson Boys U17:
- 1st in Hammer Throw
Some other commendable performances came from Kemiso Ramaipato with a sixth place in 100m Hurdles, Karabo Sekese with sixth place in Long Jump and Lemohang Lentsa with a fourth in 2000m Steeple Chase. KEHS is extremely proud of our senior athletes for an outstanding performance during the KZN Championships. We wish you all the best for the rest of the year!
