Pigs, cows and tractors – a farm life for the KEHS Grade 2’s

Last week the King Edward High School Grade 2 classes had the opportunity to visit Fritz Nel’s farm and experience all the ins and outs of farm life. On the chilly morning, the first stop was the pig sty where the learners watched the sows and piglets being fed. After enjoying the antics of the piglets, the learners tried their hands at milking a cow. This proved to be more difficult than expected, with some stiff competition from the calves! A tractor and trailer drive followed. The trailer had a layer of mealies in which provided much entertainment. After a snack, the learners had the chance to bottle feed some lambs and ride a horse.

It was a fantastic, fun-filled day, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Mr Nel for a wonderful outing.
