Matat Schools Athletics Meeting a huge success
On 4 September we saw the athletic prowess of the Matatiele schools when the cream of King Edward, Bergview, Focused and St Monicas competed in the annual inter-schools competition on King Edward Park. Many a record was set to a new standard, height or distance – a total of 16 records were broken on this day, 9 of which were broken by King Edward athletes. Not only was there great athletics on display, but also good sportsmanship and keen rivalry.
King Edward’s results were as follows:
Lunathi Nyingwa (u10), Emma Rawlins (u11), Thohonolofatso Ramakoai (u11), Robin Williams (u12), Blessing Chinzete (u12), and Tristan Phizacklea (u13) were the best in their respective age groups. Emma was also awarded the Junior Victrix Ludorum and Thohonolofatso received the Junior Victor Ludorum. Tristan was the Senior Victor Ludorum.
With such excellent results, it comes as no surprise that King Edward emerged as the overall winning school.
