High School Prize-giving
Our annual High School Prize-giving took place on Thursday, 16 October, celebrating the achievements of our learners in academics, sport and service. The event recognised excellence, effort and leadership across all aspects of school life.
The Trophy for the Most Promising Athlete went to Junior Mncadi, who also received the Eugene Hayes Trophy for Sportsmanship. Reinhard Mulder received the Trophy for Athlete of the Year and the Best Sporting Achievement in the High School award.
In rugby, awards went to Lehakwe Pheko (Best Backline Player), Wyatt Jacquire (Best Forward), Phethang Nakin (Most Improved) and Ledia Seliane was named Rugby Player of the Year. Lehakwe Pheko also received Sevens Rugby Player of the Year.
In netball, Ayola Nonjiji was Most Improved, Sinobomi Mshiywa (Best Defender), Asisipho Mtolo (Best Attacker), Khwezi Sitsha (Best Centre) and Alungile Nohiya received the Trophy for Player of the Year.
For hockey, awards for girls went to Samkelisiwe Mbewana (Best Defender) and Cazz-Leigh McKenzie (Best Striker) and she was the Player of the Year. Boys’ awards went to Luthando Zincume (Best Striker), Phethang Nakin (Best Defender) and Kandro Phillips was the Player of the Year.
In soccer, Talia Aarons and Ovayo Mpengesi were Most Improved for Girls and Boys respectively. Katleho Stuta and Taelo Mapena received the Trophies for Player of the Year for Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer.
Kandro Phillips was named Tennis Player of the Year.
The Trophy for Exceptional Achievement went to Abulele Sontangane, while Faith Ntaote received the Round Table Senior Award for Good Fellowship and High School Public Speaker of the Year. The Brent Harrison Trophy for the Highest Academic Achiever in Matric was awarded to Areahe Kwili and the prestigious Dux Trophy for 2024 went to Tshikaro Telile. The Matron van Rooyen Trophy for Service Delivered in the Hostel was awarded to Liyema Mtshiza and Zamatolo Tuku.

Prefects for 2026
The anticipation was high as everyone waited in excitement for the announcement of the High School Prefects for 2026. We are proud to announce: Uyanda Dlangalala, Avuzwa Dlungwana, Kamvelihle Dube, Gqama Dzingwe, John Höll, Wyatt Jacquire, Ntlantla January, Lulutho Kaka, Ronaba Koloko, Keratilwe Kortjaas, Bonolo Makhoali, Lukhanyiso Mazwi, Gerard Mohapi, Khanya Monamoleli, Sinobomi Mshiywa, Chulumanco Ntonga, Boiketlo Ramaipato, Ayabonga Ramashoai, Tiba Sifo, Ziqhamo Silevu, Lihle Somagaca, Aphiwe Sonaba and Abongile Tshingo as our prefects. The Deputy Head Boys for 2026 are Phethang Nakin and Awonke Vabaza, while Lehakwe Pheko will serve as Head Boy. Qhayiya Jwili was appointed Deputy Head Girl and Gcobisa Zengetwa as Head Girl.
Hostel Prefects for 2026 are: Lukhanyiso Mazwi, Gerard Mohapi, Lehakwe Pheko, Phethang Nakin, Gqama Dzingwe, Ziyanda Chiya, Reitumetse Moso, Alungile Nohiya, Liyathandwa Bungane and Katleho Stuta.
The Hostel is led by Head Boy Awonke Vabaza and Head Girl Alulutho Goya.
Matric Tea
On Friday, 17 October, the school hosted a special Matric Tea to bid farewell to the Class of 2025. Learners received gifts and shared words of gratitude with staff. A prayer was offered for the upcoming examinations and the matrics recited their pledge. The occasion was beautifully concluded with tea and delicious refreshments.
EG High School Tennis Challenge
Kandro Phillips competed in the EG High School Tennis Challenge on Saturday, 18 October, and finished as the runner-up. Congratulations on an excellent performance!
