The EG Netball Challenge was held on 24 May at St. Patrick's. We lost to Kokstad College and won our matches against St. Patrick's and Bergview finishing, once again, second in the challenge. We extend huge congratulations to our girls for an excellent netball season.

Our Foundation Phase enjoyed excellent fixtures at the Wacky Winter Weekend. Thank you to SPC for your excellent organisation.

The u7 Hockey Girls won 2 and lost 3. Our u8 Hockey Girls ended their season on a high note by winning all three their games. These girls can proudly say they have lost only one match throughout the season. Well done girls! Our u9 Hockey Girls won 1, lost 1 and drew 1 match.

The rugby boys had a very successful day. The u7’s played 3 games - won 1, drew 1 and lost 1, while the u8’s won all 3 of their games and the u9’s both of their games.

U13 Rugby Boys

The U/13 boys played against Kokstad Primary. It was a challenging game with our boys losing narrowly with a score of 15-17. This was also their first game in their new jerseys sponsored by Marnie Steyn. We thank Marnie for his generosity and expert coaching.

E.G. Challenge

14 May brought the E.G. Girls Hockey Challenge to KEHS. Five well-matched teams took part – Bergview, Kokstad College, St Monica’s, St Patrick’s and the hosts King Edward. Each team played four games of twenty minutes each. There was some excellent and passionate play from the girls. Overall King Edward came second and KC first. Well done to the girls for their high standard of play, the coaches for their dedicated enthusiasm and the referees for their fair judgement.

Our little u/8 Hockey team played against Bergview on Thursday 16 May. We drew two all. The U/10 girls thoroughly enjoyed the Suid-Natal Sports Day on 18 May. Our A team won one, drew two, and lost one game while our B team won two and lost two of their games. All our girls were amazing players. Our U13 girls played a full 40 min hockey game against St Pats and won 6-0.

Although we lost against Shayamoya High, our girls showed great courage and determination during that match, and won their game against Carl Melcomess. Well done to our First Netball girls.

On 11 May, KEHS hosted our annual winter sports festivaI. It was a memorable day with every inch of our sportfield occupied with teams from Bergview, Creston, Focused, Kokstad Junior, Kokstad Primary, King Edward, St Monica’s and Underberg learners. We appreciate every team that participated, all the officials and the many spectators who supported.

Our teams played with spirit and enthusiasm. Passionate, barefooted little rugby players, determined stick-working hockey players and fleet footed netball players. Our u7s all the way to u13s played multiple games on Saturday, drawing some, losing a few, and winning most.
Our u13 rugby boys had a fine victory over Underberg, 47-8.

The KEHS u/15 rugby team has been undefeated this term. This particular group of boys showcase fantastic running rugby and provide their supporters with delightful play in every fixture. This past weekend was no different. We hosted Creston High School at KEHS for the final fixture on our rugby calendar. The day was well attended and the support for the boys in blue was incredible. We emerged victorious and put up a convincing win 66-0.

The whole team played very well, Tyron Hayes (3), stood out as best forward on the day while his team mate Ngawo Sidaza (12) was the backline player of the day. We are proud of all of you. Congratulations on a season undefeated.

Our First Rugby Boys also played against Creston on the day. All the boys played well, and there were some stellar moments from Justin Nel including a spectacular try. Our boys won 45-7.
