Sinelizwe Matam travelled with the U/18 KZN Country District Rugby Team to Grey College in Bloemfontein on the 27th of June to participate in the Annual Academy Week. They played 3 games of which they won 1 and lost 2. This was a well-organized event with great Rugby talent from across the country.
On 15 June, our U/10, U/11 and U/13 Netball girls played at Gerit Maritz in Pietermaritzburg. Our U/10’s beat Northern Park and TWC-B, drew against Gerit Martiz and lost against TWC-A. Our U/11’s drew against Northern Park and lost against Scottsville, TWC and Gerit Maritz. Lastly our U/13 girls drew against TWC-B and Northern Park, but lost against TWC-A and Gerit Maritz. Netball continues to improve at King Edward.
The Mountain Bikers from KEHS competed in the Sardine Classic on 6 July. In the 25km race Caleb Sweetnam finished 1st, Rueben Vos and Zian Jacobs 4th, and Joshua Sweetnam 5th - all in their respective age categories. In the 45 km race Lehan Niehaus finished 3rd and David Wills 1st, in their respective age categories.


On Saturday, 13 July, KEHS participated in the Cross Country KZN League hosted by St Patricks. The sunny weather made for good running conditions. In the U/17 girls category Tiffany Schonken came 2nd. Our U/15 boys did well with Daniel Tatchell coming 3rd and Ralitsa Lesapo 4th. In the U/14 girls category, Nicolate Willmot came 1st and in the boys category Atabile Msindo came 2nd, Blessing Chinzete 3rd and Lolwethu Mshiywa 4th. U/13 boys’ category saw Fezile Jozi taking 2nd position. Well done to all athletes who participated.
Our Netball girls were privileged to play in the final of the Matatiele First Netball Team League against Bergview two weeks ago. The girls played their best, finishing second in the league.
This past weekend our u13 girls took part in the Suid-Natal Winter Festival in Port Shepstone. It was a day filled with outstanding netball with our girls playing five matches – we won our matches against Pennington and Port Natal, drew against Scottburgh, and lost to Port Shepstone and Warner Beach.
