Entrepreneurs day

Many hours of planning and preparation went into the Entrepreneurs day. Stalls of all shapes and sizes were erected to sell a wide variety of products. Greasy fingers and satisfied smiles were the order of the day, while our Grade 7’s learnt business skills and raised funds for their imminent tour.

The weekend of 30-31 August found 36 KEHS learners at the KZN Christian Schools Athletics Championships in Pietermaritzburg.

Our athletes once again rose to the occasion and won 49 medals: 20 Gold, 18 Silver and 11 Bronze. Several records were broken on the day.
Caleb Sweetnam, Joshua Sweetnam and Benji Dickson all broke their respective Shot Put records, and Ngawo Sidaza broke both the Discus and the Shot Put records. Caleb Sweetnam was the Junior Victor Ludorum and he also walked away with the trophy for the best performing athlete of the championships.

We are so proud of our athletes and wish them all the best for the rest of the season.

Saturday, 24 August found our First Soccer Team participating in Bergview’s soccer tournament. KEHS played three games. The first was against Ixopo, who arrived late and so the game was forfeited. The next game was against Bergview, which we won comfortably, 6-0. We played Focused next, beating them 1-0. This pushed us through to the finals against KC. The teams drew, 0-0. However, in the penalty shootout, KEHS emerged as the overall victor and winner of the tournament. Honourable mention must be made of Yanga Ntoyanto who was announced as the overall player of the tournament. Well done boys on some stylish footwork, as well as excellent teamwork. Soccer as a sport is making great strides forward in KEHS.

St Monica’s hosted an excellent day of athletics at KEHS on 22 August which showcased the local talent. KEHS won the interschools’ event comfortably and our learners received many awards.

The best U10 girl was Thabisa Mdebuka and Keabetswe Matlali as runner up. The best U12 girl was Areahe Kwili and Emma Rawlins was the runner up for the U13 girls. Bonesa Ramakoai was the best U11 boy with Caleb Sweetnam as the runner up. Lunathi Nyingwa was the best U12 boy with Lihle Nontwana as runner up. Trevor Mkhati was runner up for the U13 boys.

The Junior Victrix Ludorum went to Thabisa Mdebuka and the Senior Victor Ludorum was Lunathi Nyingwa.

Congratulations to all involved on a spectacular day of sport.
